Agriculture is considered to be one of the most important sectors of the national economy and its importance is growing every day, as global food production needs to double by 2050 to meet the needs of a growing population and to take account of changing dietary habits. Innovation and the digitalisation of agriculture have an important role to play in achieving such ambitious goals. Farmers need to be cost-effective, but at the same time sustainable, respectful of the environment, soil and biodiversity. Many researchers around the world are contributing to the challenges facing the agricultural sector by developing innovative products, services, etc. Coherent collaboration between science and the private agricultural sector is essential for a smooth transformation of the agricultural sector.
The Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service (LAAS), together with 20 partners from 15 countries, has taken part in the EU Horizon 2020-funded EUREKA project, which aims to build a strong and reliable EU-wide agricultural knowledge base that is relevant to individual user groups and improves collaboration between them. The project has led to the creation of the "EU FarmBook". It contains the results of the practice-oriented knowledge generated by EU research and innovation projects. The "EU FarmBook" is a platform for collecting and sharing a wide range of materials on agricultural topics. To make the platform accessible to the widest possible range of users, it is available in 14 languages (including Lithuanian). If you are missing information or need to contact the author of an article, you can do so by posting a comment in the discussion section. No matter what language the comments are written in, they will be automatically translated into the language of the user's choice. This opens up new possibilities for communication and collaboration between different user groups, in different languages. For the convenience of users, the information on the platform is divided into 6 categories: forestry, animal husbandry, plant production, environment, society and economy. This makes it easier and more convenient to find useful information in daily practice. For more information on the "EU Farm Book", log on to https://eufarmbook.eu/lt
